Sports offer

  • Here you'll experience pure adventure! The Wilder Berg in idyllic Mautern is a place where boredom never occurs. 270 Alpine animals welcome you to the Alpine Animal Park – including wolves, bears, owls, donkeys, ibexes, wild cats, and foxes.

  • The 18-hole Trofaiach Golf Club is located in the heart of Styria. This course is situated on a sunny plateau surrounded by
    a unique, almost untouched natural landscape directly in front of the impressive mountain backdrop of the Eisenerz Alps.

  • Numerous marked hiking trails of varying difficulty levels are located at Präbichl. Paragliding, climbing, and mountain biking are also possible here. Starting this summer, the alpine "Alpfox Adventures" will be expanded: a Burma Bridge, a Flying Fox course, mountain go-kart tracks, and safari cars guarantee an exciting day of adventure at Präbichl!

  • The pristine landscape, characterized by wild waters, rugged forests, and steep cliffs, offers a wide range of explorations. In the valley, the tranquil floodplain forests of the Enns River beckon, while in the midst of them lie the gentle orchid paradises of the alpine pastures, and above them, the rocky throne of the golden eagle.

Hikes

  • Starting point : Leopoldsteiner See car park – left past the “Seestüberl” buffet towards Hochblaser
    Difficulty : two places D; often C/D and often C
    Course : 4 hours 860 m
    Character : Great and long via ferrata through the lake wall at the picturesque Leopoldsteiner Lake.

  • Starting point : At the police station (Sannstrasse), turn right and continue uphill until the end of the road. Parking lot with panoramic sign – near the high-voltage line
    Difficulty : Difficult – mostly between B and C, several passages C/D combined with partly great exposure
    Approach : 2 hours 750 m / Course: 1.5 hours 300 m
    Character : A truly well-executed, varied, and difficult via ferrata. In addition to sections that are sensitively adapted to the terrain, there are also some quite challenging, demanding, and exposed sections to overcome.

  • Starting point : at the police station, steeply uphill towards the Pfaffenstein car park
    Walking time : 2.5 hours/1000 m elevation gain
    Easy via ferrata – surefootedness and a head for heights required. Magnificent views of Eisenerz, the Erzberg mountain, and Lake Leopoldstein.

  • Starting point : Parking lot at the Alpengasthaus Gemeindealm in the Eisenerzer Ramsau
    Difficulty : Very to extremely difficult, fairly constant C and D, some short passages D/E
    Access : 1.5 hours via serpentines through a beech forest and scree field to the base of the wall
    Course : 1.5 hours/300 m elevation gain

    In 2013, a challenging rock climbing garden was built directly on the sea wall. Twelve attractive routes, designed with great sensitivity and experience, with rope lengths ranging from 8 to 22 meters, await all climbing enthusiasts.

Mountain biking

  • An ideal family tour. Here, children can cycle, splash around, and explore nature in all its diversity at the emerald-green mountain lake.

  • This route offers a beautiful view of the Erzberg.

    Along the lake towards Seeau – after about 4 km the cycle path turns right up towards Blauer Herrgott – continue to Obere Prossen – downhill to the Eisenerz State Hospital – on the public cycle path of the B115 back to Leopoldsteinersee

  • This route leads through a stunning natural landscape with impressive viewpoints.

  • A varied mountain bike route, partly on road and partly on forest paths. It's a challenging circuit for experienced riders. The route is only rideable in one direction.

    Eisenerz – along the public cycle path towards Hieflau – mostly separate cycle path along the B115 – turn off to Radmer – quiet road to Radmer an der Stube – over the Finstergraben – the Radmerer Hals – into the Eisenerzer Ramsau – back to the town centre of Eisenerz

Cultural offerings

  • The old town hall was the central hub of the Innerberg iron market in the 16th century. In the former council chamber, judges and council members were once elected and the town's fortunes were determined. Today, visitors can learn about the rich history of this world-famous market and the mining town of Eisenerz through the ages.

  • The Postal Museum in the Kammerhof features a drivable, walk-in stagecoach, an original Imperial and Royal Post Office from around 1900 with a customer service counter, and an old telephone and power plug cabinet. The Postal Museum takes you on a journey through time, from everyday postal life during the monarchy to the present day. The museum is a veritable treasure trove. The exhibits on two floors provide insight into Austrian postal history.

  • Austria's smallest underground railway takes you through the Paradeisstollen tunnel into a late medieval copper mine. A tour lasts at least one hour. Warm clothing and sturdy footwear are recommended. Safety helmets and jackets are provided.

  • The Roman Catholic parish church is the largest and most important fortified church in Styria and one of the few completely preserved in Austria. Dedicated to Saint Oswald, it was built in the 15th and 16th centuries in the late Gothic style. It is considered a masterpiece of the Admont construction company. Built on a northern spur of the Erzberg, the so-called Voglbichl, it is surrounded by a tabor complex.

  • The tower is reached via a short winding path from the old town. From the Schichtturm, you have a magnificent view of the city and the Erzberg mountain – a great vantage point for photographers. The Innerberg wheelwrights had the Schichtturm built during the Renaissance as a bell and fire watchtower. Be sure to take the short tour!
